For the record, the work splits into four streams, each with its own page:

Money questions first
That is where most people start, so these get asked the most.
How much does a call out cost?
Nothing. Every job starts with a $0 call out, whether the house is on Wentworth Street or near the school. You pay for work you approve, not for the truck.
Do you quote before any work starts?
Always. The price lands in writing before a tool comes out, and what you approve is what you pay. If the figure does not suit, we leave at no charge.
Are there hourly rates or hidden extras?
The quote covers the job. No call-out fee, no hourly surprises, no additions unless you approve them first. If something unexpected turns up mid-job, we stop and requote before continuing.
Why is the call out free?
Because we would rather quote the job than charge you to open the gate. Getting a plumber to your door costs you nothing, and the quote carries no obligation either.
Getting there, and how far the run goes
Timing questions come a close second, especially when water is going where it should not.
Can you come the same day?
Same-day where the schedule allows. Ring early and we will do our best to fit you in, and genuine emergencies like a burst pipe get treated as the priority they are.
Do you work outside Telarah?

What counts as a plumbing emergency?
A burst pipe flooding the house, an overflowing toilet, or no hot water. If water is moving where it should not, treat it as urgent. The emergency plumbing hub has more.
What should I do while I wait?
Turn the water off at the meter first. Most blocks here have it near the front boundary. For an overflowing toilet, stop flushing and close the cistern tap, then ring.
The work itself
Day-to-day jobs, and what we can take on.
What services do you cover?
General plumbing, drainage, hot water and emergency callouts, across bathrooms, kitchens, toilets, meters, dishwashers and gas fitting. If water runs through it, we work on it, wherever it is.
Do you fix hot water systems or only replace them?
Both. A failed element or weeping valve on a sound tank is worth repairing, while a cylinder rusted through is worth replacing, and we will tell you honestly which applies.
Can you do gas work?
Yes, licensed gas fitting runs from appliance connections through to new lines. Any gas smell is a stop-everything job: turn the gas off if you can and ring straight away.
Can you supply fixtures, or do I buy my own?
Either way works. Bring your own basin, toilet or dishwasher and we install it, or we can talk you through options that suit older pipework. The quote reflects whichever path you pick.
Can you work on pre-war cottages?
Plenty of the homes here date from before the war, with weatherboard, fibro and brick veneer in the mix. That means old supply lines and clay drains, and we work with them weekly.
Do you handle commercial jobs?
Yes, from shop fitouts to club and school maintenance. Commercial work runs on the same quote-first basis as residential, just scheduled around your trading hours where we can manage it.
Local things worth knowing
A few questions that come up because of where these houses sit.
Why do drains keep blocking near the railway?
Age, mostly. The oldest streets carry clay and earthenware lines whose joints open as the ground shifts, and the mature trees nearby find every gap with their roots.
Is stormwater a problem in big rain?
It can be. Low floodplain ground means older stormwater networks surcharge during heavy Hunter Valley downpours, and gully grates half full of silt give way first. The blocked stormwater page covers it.
Does the 1955 flood still matter for plumbing?
Yes, as history. The 1955 Hunter flood reshaped the area, and many homes were relocated here afterwards, each bringing aged pipework. Flood awareness still shapes how we approach stormwater work.
Do you know the Hunter Water rules?
Connections, metering and compliance all follow Hunter Water requirements, and the work is done licensed and to code. If a job needs approval or inspection, we will walk you through that part too.
